Ida, Countess of Hainaut (Ida of Louvain) (died 1139), daughter of Henry II, Count of Louvain, and Adela of Thuninga. Ida was sister to Godfrey I, Count of Louvain, and grand-niece to both Pope Stephen IX and Godfrey the Bearded, Duke of Lorraine. She is sometimes confused with Ida of Louvain, a 13th-century nun.

 Henry II (German: Heinrich, Dutch:Hendrik, French: Henri) was Count of Louvain (Leuven) from 1054 through 1071 (?). Henry II was the son of Lambert II, Count of Louvain and Oda of Verdun. His maternal uncles included Pope Stephen X and Godfrey the Bearded, Duke of Lorraine

Lambert I of Louvain nicknamed "The Bearded" (born in Louvain, Duchy of Lotharingia, East Francia c. 950, died in Florennes, County of Namur, Duchy of Lower Lorraine, Holy Roman Empire on 12 September 1015) was the first Count of Louvain in 1003. He was killed by Godfrey II, Duke of Lower Lorraine in battle for Godfrey's claim of Count of Verdun.
He was the son of Reginar III, Count of Hainaut and Adela d' Equisheim, daughter of Hugh V, Count of Equisheim.
 Gerberga of Lower Lorraine, Countess of Louvain, was the daughter of Charles, Duke of Lower Lorraine, himself the son of Louis IV of France and Gerberga of Saxony.


Reginar III (c. 920 – 973) was Count of Hainaut from 940 to 958.
He was born in Brabant as the son of Reginar II, Count of Hainaut.

Reginar II (890–932) was Count of Hainaut (also written Rainier II, Count of Hainault^[1]) from 915 until 932.
He was the son of Reginar, Duke of Lorraine and Hersent of France. His mother possibly was a daughter of Charles the Bald and Ermentrude. He is an ancestor of Charles, current Prince of Wales.

Reginar I Longneck^[1] (c. 850 – 915)^[2] was the Duke of Lorraine from 910 until his death. He stands at the head of the clan of Reginarids, an important Lotharingian noble family and was the grandson of the emperor Lothair I.
He was the son of Gilbert, Count of the Maasgau, and a daughter of Lothair I of whom the name is not known (Hiltrude, Bertha, Irmgard, and Gisela are good candidates).

Gilbert (Giselbert), Count of Maasgau, was a vassal of Charles the Bald. He was count of Maasgau on the lower Meuse.
Gilbert's background is not known. The similarity of his son's name to the name "Ragnar" has been used as an argument to suggest a Viking connection.^[1] Another possibility is that he was related to a man named Reginar, son of Meginhere (a nobleman from the court of Charlemagne).
